It is simple and straightforward process to apply for a GreenSpec PASS endorsement. The first step is to fill in an application form and submit it. This will be reviewed and you’ll be advised whether the product has a good chance of being endorsed. It’s like a pre-MOT test – and is completely free.

If you’d then like to proceed with the endorsement assessment, you will need to supply as much information as possible to support the argument that the product is ‘Green’. The GreenSpec PASS review panel will then analyse the environmental information, while construction data will be sent to GreenSpec’s technical performance review partners (architects Stephen George & Partners ) to assess its fitness for purpose.

Successful Products

If your product passes the assessment, on payment of the endorsement fee you will receive a PASS endorsement certificate, a copy of the PASS logo and details of the product will be published on the GreenSpec website’s Directory of Green Products, where 50,000 construction specifiers visit each month.


Costs and review

The PASS endorsement and the product or product range entry costs £995 + VAT a year, or £1,495 + VAT for two years. There is a bi-annual review and, providing the product continues to perform as ‘Outstanding in classification’, the endorsement label and entry are entitled to be renewed. Reasonable updates to information within the online entry are undertaken freely.


GreenSpec INDEX online product directory

Inclusion in INDEX includes a 400-word product description; comprehensive list of environmental metrics; up to 12 product images; unlimited downloadable brochures and datasheets; downloadable CAD and BIM files; video provision; a contact form; and supplier information contact form. Entry pages can be accessed by a powerful search engine or through browsing the industry standard Uniclass classification system. The product will be listed under as many classification headings as are applicable.


Client Liaison

On registration, you’ll be appointed a dedicated account manager who will arrange for product data to be collected and edited for publication on GreenSpec. Account managers are responsible for looking after future content and checking that clients are satisfied.

Manufacturers are provided with regular reports covering page usage, including ‘click-throughs’ and downloads.



The PASS logo is licensed for that product for use in advertising and promotional activities, marketing material, media, broadcast, packaging and internet use for one year. The GreenSpec PASS is a trademarked logo and the licensing terms apply world-wide.
